It is a devotional hymn composed by Sri Ramana Maharshi in praise of Lord Arunachala (the holy hill at Tiruvannamalai). The title means “garland of letters” – each verse begins with a successive letter of the Tamil alphabet. The hymn is considered one of the most important works in Ramana Maharshi’s literary output, expressing complete surrender and devotion.
