A servant enters. “The Zhao boy pushes for the Edict. He suspects Maya.”

Maya swallows. The Thorn’s glow intensifies. “Yes. My mother was Serena’s mother’s sister. We share blood.”

She pricks her finger on a thorn. The plant’s vines move toward the blood. This is the Thorn of Veritas —a bio-engineered plant that can force anyone to speak their deepest truth.

Chaos erupts.

The four families rise in panic as the black roses overhead begin to drip a red liquid. The Thorn of Veritas blooms fully, its vines spreading across the floor.

“Are you Serena Ashford’s sister?” A servant enters

The episode opens not in the sunlit courtyards of the Elite Garden, but in its underbelly: a rain-soaked glass conservatory at the edge of the academy grounds. Inside, (the scholarship student who clawed her way into the elite circle) stands facing a cracked mirror.

“You think they’ve forgotten?” the reflection whispers. “The missing funds. The forged letter. The girl who used to sit where you sit now.”

“Did you help Serena disappear?”

A hidden greenhouse beneath the academy. Elara Vance (Serena’s former best friend, now acting head of House Ashford) tends to a plant with glowing red veins. She’s not mourning Serena. She’s replacing her.

“Before I vote,” Elara says, “I invoke Right of Bloom . A duel of truths. One champion from each side. The loser is expelled. Forever.”

Rina smashes the mirror with her bare fist. Blood drips onto white orchids. The Thorn’s glow intensifies

Maya stands. “I’ll fight for… whoever wants the truth to stay buried.”

A single white rose petal falls into darkness.
