"That is because you have only met mirrors. I am a sword." Scene 5: End of Episode 1 – The Road to Agra
The golden fort of Amer fades in the distance. Jodhaa’s eyes are tearful but fierce.
Bharmal holds her face in his hands, tears flowing.
"They worship courage, Mahan Anga. And courage is the same language as faith. I do not want to rule ruins. I want to rule hearts. If marrying a Rajput princess brings the mighty Rajputs to my side without a drop of blood... then yes, I will do it."
"Back, beast! I am a Kshatrani!"
Dressed as a simple soldier, he watches from behind a banyan tree as Jodhaa’s palanquin stops. She steps out to pray to the sun (Sandhya Vandanam).
"You taught me that a princess’s duty is not just to her family, but to her people. If my one step to Delhi saves thousands of lives in Amer... then I will take that step. But listen, Pita. I will not bow to his gods. I will not leave my Krishna. I will take my sword, my faith, and my pride with me. If Akbar wants a queen, he must accept a Rajput daughter—not a slave."
Jodhaa chants Vedic hymns, her voice pure and strong.
"Perhaps, Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar. But remember—I am not yours. I will become yours only when you become mine. Equals. Not master and servant."
Mahan Anga exchanges a dark look with Adham Khan. They do not approve.
"Piyanā (Father), this is not an alliance. This is slavery! The Mughal Emperor Akbar demands a Rajput princess as a bride for political peace. Are we goats to be gifted?"
Jodhaa stands before the temple of Lord Krishna inside the fort. She wears a red dupatta, the color of marriage and sacrifice.
Outside, on his horse, Akbar glances back at the palanquin with curiosity and respect.
"Let the empire watch. This is not just a wedding. This is the beginning of something... new."
"You are sending a marriage proposal to Amer? A Rajput king? They are infidels, Jalal. They worship fire and idols."
