Abstract: The integration of digital imaging into light microscopy has become essential for documentation and analysis. This paper evaluates the NXM-EP200 microscope digital camera and its associated proprietary software. Key performance metrics including resolution, color fidelity, frame rate, and software functionality (measurement, stacking, stitching) were tested. Results indicate that the EP200 system provides adequate performance for educational and routine laboratory use, though with limitations in low-light sensitivity compared to higher-end CMOS sensors. The accompanying software offers a functional interface for basic image processing and calibration.
Traditional photomicrography using trinocular ports and DSLRs is being replaced by dedicated USB eyepiece cameras. The NXM-EP200 is designed to fit a standard 23.2mm or 30mm eyepiece tube, converting an ordinary compound microscope into a digital imaging station. This paper details the installation, software features (focusing on the nxm-ep200 driver/UI), and image quality benchmarks.
