The results loaded instantly. But instead of a PDF link, a single, strange result appeared at the top:
Around him, fractions walked like people. A ¾-shaped man was arguing with a ⅝-shaped lady. “We’re not equivalent!” she shouted.
“Leo!” squeaked the eraser. “You searched for answers. But answers aren’t in PDFs. They’re in the Chapters .”

He never searched for answer PDFs again.
The eraser handed Leo a pencil. “You want the answers? Solve the final problem correctly. But no cheating. The PDF you wanted? It’s empty. Always has been.”

The screen flickered green. The room went cold. And suddenly, his math workbook glowed .
Leo closed his laptop, grabbed his real workbook, and muttered: “My pals are here… and they are really annoying.”
It was 11:47 PM. His “Pals” — the cheerful cartoon characters on the cover of his real workbook — seemed to be laughing at him from the desk. Problem 5a, page 47: Fractions and Mixed Numbers . Leo had solved six questions. The seventh looked like a monster. The results loaded instantly
So Leo, trapped in his math book, worked the problem. He drew a bar model, found the common denominator, and subtracted until… click . The fraction glowed green.
Leo hesitated. Then clicked.
The workbook shook. Leo blinked. He was back in his room. The screen now showed a real PDF — but it contained just one line: Below that, a small checkmark appeared next to Problem 7. He had gotten it right. “We’re not equivalent
A tiny door appeared on the cover, right between the smiling faces of the two “Pals” characters. The door swung open. Out jumped a miniature, talking eraser with glasses and a calculator for a head.
