New Super Mario Bros. Wii 2: The Next Levels is a 2.5D side-scrolling platform game developed and published by Nintendo for the next-generation Nintendo Switch. It is the direct sequel to New Super Mario Bros. Wii (2009) and the sixth mainline entry in the New Super Mario Bros. sub-series. The game was released worldwide in November 2026. After the events of New Super Mario Bros. Wii , the Mushroom Kingdom enjoyed a long period of peace. However, during a celebratory parade for the 30th anniversary of Princess Peach's first rescue, Kamek suddenly appears and magically shatters the ground beneath the castle, revealing a glowing, unstable portal. Before Mario, Luigi, Blue Toad, and Yellow Toad can react, Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings ambush them, knocking them into the chasm.
