“I… I am not that stupid,” Grug whispered. Then the TV-Grug tried to eat his own foot because Gary dared him to. The laugh track (a recorded sabertooth cub’s cackle) played.
Guy nervously tugged his collar. “It’s a ‘situation comedy,’” he said. “But it’s not real. It’s a… a rectangle of lies.” the croods tv
And so, the first family of the Stone Age discovered their favorite new pastime: watching themselves live a life far more interesting than their own. They became the first couch potatoes. And the last. Because tomorrow, that glowing rock was definitely going to be eaten by a giant sloth. Probably.
His shadow looked like a lumpy boulder. Eep, Thunk, Sandy, and even Gran stared with dead-eyed boredom. Ugga tried to smile, but her eye twitched.
“Gah! Sky demons!” Grug screamed, throwing a blanket over his own head. “New rock
“…After one more segment,” he sighed, sitting back down with a bowl of cold gravel.
He lifted it over his head to smash it. But just as he did, the TV flickered to a commercial: a bright, happy jingle for “Mammoth-Burger! You’ll have a KILLER meal!”
But on the glowing rock, the Croods were moving. They were singing a catchy, repetitive chant: “We’re the Croods! We hunt and we squawk! We’ll hit a thing with a rock and then we’ll ROCK-talk!” “They have an Eep who fights a giant
Grug froze. His stomach growled.
“Behold!” Grug grunted, holding his massive hands in front of the fire. “The story of the Brave Mammoth Who Obeyed His Father and Did Not Lick the Glowing Blue Moss! ”
Suddenly, a low WHOOOOSH echoed from outside. A strange, flat object had fallen from a rent in the sky. It was sleek, black, and had a faint, humming glow. On its back, in strange symbols, were the words: THE CROODS – SEASON 3 – STREAMING NOW.
The TV-Croods were having a “zany misunderstanding” where Grug thought his shadow was a separate person named “Gary.” The real Grug watched, horrified and mesmerized.
For three straight days, the Croods did nothing but watch. They stopped hunting. The fire went out. They just stared at the flickering box, watching their own exaggerated, chaotic, 22-minute adventures on loop.
