"Here. For noticing me."

"Welcome to my world. My big brother won't let me play video games. My mom's on her phone. Even my dog ignores me unless I have cheese."

Fade to black. End credits play over the sound of comfortable silence and one happy, ignored uncle.

(whispering back) "Did not."

(purrs in stereo)

He pulls out a tiny ukulele and starts playing elevator music. Nobody claps. Nobody turns around. He smiles wider. Uncle Grandpa Series

(sprinkler water shooting out his ears) "I've been ignored , kid! My own family treated me like a houseplant!"

(chewing) "Yeah, you're like a fan. Nice to have on, but nobody watches the fan."

Uncle Grandpa and Maddie sit back-to-back on the porch. They refuse to acknowledge each other. They refuse to acknowledge a passing parade. They refuse to acknowledge a UFO landing. (The aliens get bored and leave.) My mom's on her phone

(whispering) "You looked."

"I've been replaced by ambiance ."
